If ever there were an argument for the continuation of cover songs on YouTube, Dana Williams and Leighton Meester are it. Since posting their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” nearly two years, the duo has released a slow but steady stream of dreamy duets. Now, after paying homage to Elvis, The Caravelles, and Chris Bell, Meester and Williams are putting their own spin on The Everly Brothers’ “I Wonder If I Care As Much.”

With sweet harmonies and folk-tinged melodies, the song is a totally new take on the ’50s staple. “Leighton and I discussed doing something a little more romantic,” Williams tells us. “We have done a few sad songs in the passed, and we were throwing around song ideas that could possibly be released as a Valentine’s Day cover. But then one night she sent me this song, and despite the fact that it was a breakup song, the opposite of what we had intended, it was so beautiful I thought we should just go for it!”

Press play and daydream your way into the weekend.
