Just when you thought the whole #normcore thing had been beaten to death and calling someone “basic” was the biggest insult you could throw (see: Lauren Conrad), Gap’s attempting to prove everyone otherwise. In fact, the retail giant’s fall ’14 campaign, is all about celebrating the idea of being, well, normal.
Aptly entitled “Dress Normal,” the lookbook stars Zosia Mamet, Jena Malone, Elisabeth Moss, and more famous faces, all of whom, according to the brand are “known for their own art of dressing normal.” So what does this mean? In the case of these ads, get ready for plain white tees, black denim, and easy, wear-everywhere dresses. Not exactly groundbreaking, but most definitely classic--which, if you think about it, is exactly what the brand has been all about ever since its inception. (Just rewatch the old-school “Fall into the Gap” videos if you’re still not convinced.)
