Watch The Trailer For ‘Get Out,’ Next Year’s Most Incendiary Horror Movie
From the mind of Jordan Peele
The last thing you might expect from one-half of the brain trust behind Key & Peele is an all-out horror movie, but here it is. Get Out was written and directed by Jordan Peele, and based on the first trailer, it has the potential to be one of the most terrifying and subversive movies of next year. It stars Allison Williams and Daniel Kaluuya as an interracial couple off to spend a weekend with her white parents, played by American treasures Catherine Keener and Bradley Whitford. But on their way to the house, they’re stopped by a menacing police officer who seems to have a problem with a white woman dating a black man, thus setting the stage for the racially tinged terror that’s about to ensue.
The trailer is so frenetic and filled with frightening imagery that it’s hard to fully take stock of what exactly is going on, but if we’re to guess, it seems pretty obvious that a community of white people has made it their twisted mission to terrorize black people. That kind of storyline means that this is more than your typical horror film, and you should expect nothing less from Peele. Along with his comedy soulmate Keegan-Michael Key, Peele has built his career on racially charged entertainment. Only this time, instead of going the sketch comedy route, Peele is going the I’m-going-to-scare-the-living-shit-out-of-you route. Get Out hits theaters on February 27, and you can watch the trailer above.
