her rendition of “Fat Bottom Girls” is our favorite thing

The lip sync battle between Lena Dunham and Jimmy Fallon was perhaps our favorite thing on TV this week. In oversized gold hoops and a short Nike tennis skirt, Dunham proved she’s a worthy opponent to Mr. Fallon—and that she’s got some impressive moves.

Fallon has had a number of celebs lip sync on his show, from Emma Stone to Robin Wright to Will Ferrell and has since started a whole TV show around it. Lip Sync Battle, on Spike TV, is hosted by LL Cool J and premiered in April. We’ll never forget the Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's rendition of T Swift's “Shake it Off.”

But Dunham proves the segment is still massively entertaining on The Tonight Show. After her interview on Friday night, the Girls star and creator challenged her host to an eight-minute-long battle. Fallon opened, mirror in hand, with “I’ve Never Been to Me” by Charlene. The 1980s ballad, with lyrics like “I've been to Georgia and California, and, anywhere I could run/Took the hand of a preacherman and we made love in the sun” was undeniably hilarious. Dunham followed up with Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s “Outside” complete with some intricate choreography. As Dunham put it after the song, “We do our best.”

Then, Fallon followed up with “Run’s House.” We’ve all known Fallon can rap but here he even got the entire audience waving their hands over their heads. Dunham closed with “Fat Bottom Girls.” Let’s just say we were impressed with her twerking skills. And yes, she won.

If it were up to us, we’d tell Fallon to continue the Lip Sync segment on the show. Dunham admits if she could battle anyone it would be Kendall and Kylie Jenner. We will definitely tune in for that one.
