The Curator: Liza Darwin, Senior Web Editor The Look: Madewell’s March ’14 LookbookWe can always count on Madewell to churn out tons of closet envy every season, but the March ’14 speaks to, on a spiritual level. Not only does it star one of my favorite models, Kel Markey, but the brand’s twist on wardrobe staples like camo, denim, and graphic tees just always feels fresh. Also: a cookie! The Face: Bumble and Bumble Pret-A-Powder Dry Shampoo
Ever since dyeing my hair a dark red, I’ve become a dry shampoo connoisseur. Sprays, powders....I’ve tried ’em all. And while all the options offer something new, I keep coming back to my old staple from Bumble. A light dusting does more than just soak up oil and dirt--it adds volume and texture, and smells great.
    The Inspiration: Patti Smith
Last week I saw Patti Smith join New Order, Iggy Pop, The National, Nico Muhly, and other iconic musicians onstage for Tibet House’s benefit concert--which, by the way, was just as awesome than it sounds. Now that the singer is lending her voice to the Noah soundtrack, we have yet another excuse to crank up Horses and read Just Kids all over again.
The News: Lupita Nyong’o in talks for Star Wars: Episode 7
The actress reportedly met with director J.J. Abrams just before the Oscars. Please let the reign of Lupita never end! The Song: “Kyss Kyss” by Soulmates Never Die
This track from the U.K. singer and songwriter was my weekend jam, mostly because it captures that carefree feeling that days off are all about. Lazy mornings, brunches, nights out,’s all here in this quick 2-minute burst. If you dig it, check out more from Soulmates Never Die--all of his tracks are equally catchy, downright fun, and you can download his EP for free.
