NYFW HIghlights day 5
the highlights from nyfw day 5!
The Curator:
Beauty Director
The Look:
Zac Posen
Zac Posen’s voluminous gowns nodded to Charles James, the subject of the Met’s next exhibit. They also reminded me a little of the Nutcrackers’ Mother Ginger; you could definitely conceal several of people under the enormous skirts. They also injected a bit of glamour into a season mostly characterized by bulky sweaters and hulking coats.
The Hair:
Ohne Titel’s Fine Feathered Strands
Feathered extensions might have been the boho girl’s go-to hair accessory a few years ago, but the plumage at Ohne Titel was not meant for the festival circuit. Jordan M. of Bumble and bumble plaited the sides of the models’ hair, then affixed them with gold or silver dipped black feathers. It was a refreshing and badass departure from the undone, cool girl, effortless hair that’s been on most of the runways.
The News:
Nars teams up with 3.1 Phillip Lim
To follow up their last collaboration with Pierre Hardy, Nars enlisted Phillip to create a collection of nail polish. Though you’ll have to wait until July to see the full range of shades, the models at Lim’s show offered a sneak preview, sporting the deep purple hue called Crossroads on their fingernails.
The Song
: "Fashion" by David Bowie
Sure it's obvious, but in the best possible way. And you can't go wrong with Bowie!
The Inspiration
: My "snow boots"
It's still a bit icy--especially on the West Side where a lot of the shows are, so tread is key. Rather than wear my Sorels, I'm depending on my Docs to prevent me from busting my ass.
