Sunday Sizzle: Lord Narf’s Cookout Classic

The experimental artist goes back to basics

When summertime finally rolls around, nothing is more fun than the combo of good food, good music, and good company. So every weekend, we’re bringing you BBQ must-haves from the hands of our favorite artists so you can get a real taste of what their lives are actually like. Get your hands on the Sunday Sizzle while it’s hot.

Whatever your musical leanings, we can all agree that no summer BBQ is complete without some hip-hop on your playlist. So naturally, we thought we'd head down to Atlanta—the original hip-hop haven—for some grilling pointers.

Enter

Lord Narf

, member of Atlanta-based rap clique Awful Records. The emerging MC first hit the rap scene in 2014 with her debut

For the Funky

EP, which she followed up with the release of

Sick

, and has since become known for her unapologetic rhymes and smooth, syrupy vocals. Now, Narf's got a new project in the works: Her next album,

WITCHCRAFT

, drops later this summer. Narf may be known for experimenting with her sound, but when it comes to summer eats, the artist goes classic.

"One of my favorite dishes to eat at a BBQ would have to be the BBQ ribs of course," says Narf. "I feel like that's one of the main things that attracts me to going to a BBQ initially because ribs from straight off the grill, grilled by one of your friends and/or family members is something that you don't come by often."

All of this would be soundtracked by Montell Jordan's "This Is How We Do It," Narf's recommended BBQ beat. "I would even put that on at a BBQ today because it just reminds me of being at a family BBQ when I was little, and it's still a good fun song that pretty much everyone knows," she adds.

Fire up the grill and tune in, below.
