In a perfect world, women would remember to take their birth control at the same time every day. But the world isn't perfect, and before we know it, we've realized we missed three days and screwed up our entire cycle. Luckily, there's a new device to substitute your not-so-effective iPhone alarm. Oviary, a new Kickstarter-launched product, syncs with your phone to send you text message or app-based alerts and reminders to take your birth control whenever you miss a dose.
Created by 28-year-old OB-GYN Jessica Walter, Oviary aims to "bring birth control (a.k.a., 'the Pill') from the 1960s to the 21st Century." When used effectively, birth control pills are 99.9 percent effective in preventing pregnancy. Although this device isn't foolproof (after all, you, as a user have to remember to take your pill), it will actively remind you to maintain your schedule. And that's a start.
