Fashion
let it shine
sparkle and fade all spring long.
Metallic fabrics always crop up at Fashion Week--with the runway lights and the high fashion drama, it really is the perfect scenario for a little shine--but this season the reflective trend took on a new life, appearing at more shows than we can count.
From the disco queen jumpsuits and minidresses at Marc by Marc Jacobs (let's not forget those star spangled evening dresses either!), to the classic Uptown separates at Oscar de la Renta, to Rodarte's look-at-me glittering L.A. babes, designers really mined the golden look for all its worth. Unexpected takes on shine appeared at Karen Walker, whose hippie dresses were coated with a subtle sheen, and at Richard Chai Love, where a dark blue sequin tank dress and midi-skirt melded minimalism and metallics, perfect for those of us who want to get glimmer-y without going full-on prom queen. (Although if you are looking for something sweet sixteen appropriate, just check out Betsey Johnson's radiant silver party dress. If anyone knows how to do shiny, it's Johnson.)
Other designers who opted for a high-shine look include Anna Sui, J. Mendel, Proenza Schouler, and Rachel Zoe, so check out all the metallics from Fashion Week and decide which outfit you're going to be relying on to get golden.
