When the first trailer for The Big Short came out, we were left in awe of its star power. You don't book Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, and Ryan Gosling in one movie without dropping some jaws. It also marked a major shift in director Adam McKay's career, who, as the director of the Anchorman movies, has been best known as Will Ferrell's closest collaborator. We were intrigued.

Since then, reviews for the true-life financial dramedy have begun to trickle out, and they've been pretty great. So we're still intrigued! The movie's dramatic, new trailer isn't shy about showing off some of that praise, and portrays this movie—based on Michael Lewis' book of the same name—as more of a dark conspiracy thriller, as the four leads do battle with the corrupt, ominous spectre known as the American financial system.

The Big Short hits theaters in limited release on December 11 before expanding wide. All signs point to it becoming a major Oscar player in several categories, so you'll want to see it to be part of the conversation. Also, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.
