Remember those days you spent waiting to dive off the high-board? Well, take those, multiply them to the tenth exponent, and you’ll have something vaguely resembling the feeling that Philippe Petit had in the early ’70s while planning to tight rope across the Twin Towers.
Now, 41 years after the historic crime (yes, it was and still is illegal to highwire across two major buildings), the act is getting its own film adaptation. With Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Petit and Ben Schwartz, Charlotte Le Bon, Ben Kingsley, Steve Valentine, and more rounding out the cast, The Walk is part heist film, part romance, and part biopic. It seems to be an interesting combination with incredible CGI graphics and a solid plot.
The Walk opens nationwide October 2.
