The Trailer For Timothée Chalamet’s New Film Will Leave You Gutted

‘Beautiful Boy’ also stars Steve Carrell

Beautiful Boyis one of the most anticipated films of the year. When it premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, it received a standing ovation, with critics already calling Timothée Chalamet's performance Oscar-worthy. It's also reportedly devastating and heartbreaking, and the latest trailer offers a look into just how many tears might be shed while watching it. Hint: A lot.

Adapted by recovering addict Luke Davies (Lion) and directed by Felix Van Groeningen (The Broken Circle Breakdown), the film is based on a memoir about David Sheff and his son Nic Sheff's battle with addiction. The film focuses on Nic (Chalamet) as a teenager while he spirals into a grim meth addiction. Steve Carrell stars opposite Chalamet as his loving father who struggles to help his son.

In the latest trailer, we see Chalamet endure a roller-coaster of emotions. "It's hard as hell to get sober," he says. "But I love my family. I want them to be proud of me." The film has been praised for casting a spotlight on the reality of substance abuse and reminding the audience that relapse is part of the harrowing journey toward recovery.

Beautiful Boy hits theaters on October 12. Watch the film’s new trailer, below.
