Fashion
the checklist
all the news from fashion week, so far!
THE CURATOR:
, Market Director
THE LOOK:
Vfiles
fall '14
VFiles kicked off Fashion Week on Wednesday night and it has easily been the most fun event I've seen thus far. Their show gives three obscure up-and-coming designers, students in some cases, a platform to present their designs, and each was awesome. I particularly loved Hyein Seo's goth glam looks emblazoned with the word 'fear'. The interpretation is up to the viewer but I'm down to imagine all of the clothing as really high end merch for Lee Ving's punk rock band.
THE FACE:
Peter Som's Margot Tenenbaum Beauty
The sweet barrette fastened side parts and greasy glitter kohl rimmed eyes at Peter Som were so perfectly Margot Tenebaum.
THE NEWS:
Pastel Pink Coats Take Over Street Style
Dude. Pink coats are everywhere.
!
THE INSPIRATION:
Joel Sternfeld
Stuart Vever used a 1970's Joel Sternfeld photograph as the backdrop to his debut collection for Coach that is one of the most beautiful images I have seen in some time.
THE SONG:
"Ain't No Sunshine" -- Nina Simone
It's early in NYFW so it's hard to tell but I was pretty moved when BCBG opened with Nina Simone's haunting cover of Bill Wither's "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone."
