The Bellas Go Global In The ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Trailer

The trilogy ends this Christmas

When the first Pitch Perfect debuted seven years ago, no one could have foreseen that a movie about an a capella group would spawn one of Hollywood’s most reliable franchises. But here we are, in 2017, and the trailer for Pitch Perfect 3 has just hit the web. The third installment of the Bellas’ saga will also be the last, giving Pitch Perfect vaunted trilogy status. (Of course, if this thing makes boatloads of cash, then don’t expect the Bellas to be gone for too long—the cast may just change.)

The series picks up with the Bellas having graduated college, but finding the real world to be kind of a bummer. So naturally, they decide to get the band back together one last time to perform overseas for the troops during the USO tour. This sets up a kind of international tour, which puts the girls in exotic locations and facing new challenges in the form of Ruby Rose and rock band. Elizabeth Banks was set to direct this installment after steering the second one to box office riches but eventually handed off directing duties to Trish Sie (Kay Cannon, who created the series, also wrote this one), who seems to have nailed the tone while also making a movie that feels bigger in scope. Thankfully, Banks is reprising her role as Gail.

Pitch Perfect 3 hits theaters on December 22 and you can watch the trailer above.
