TIna Fey And Margot Robbie Star In The Brand New Trailer For ‘Whiskey Tango Fxtrot’
In Tina We Trust
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot has all the makings of a disaster. A white woman goes to Afghanistan and Pakistan during wartime, and this is her fish-out-of-water experience. The outrage-filled think pieces basically write themselves. And in lesser hands, we'd be worried. But this Tina Fey we're talking about, a woman who's more than earned our trust thanks to a stellar track record of handling tricky subject matter with a deft satirical hand only few in the business possess.
In the new trailer, we see Fey as journalist Kim Barker, whose memoir The Taliban Shuffle serves as the film's blueprint. While oversees, she encounters a myriad of Westerners who are there for the same reason she is, to try and make sense of what's going on un the world's most unstable region. There's Margot Robbie as a British journalist and Fey's de facto BFF, Martin Freeman as a Scottish war photographer, and Alfred Molina as a loval diplomat.
Also here to reassure us are Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the talented directors behind Crazy, Stupid, Love, and screenwriter Robert Carlock, whose past credits include Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock. Put the above ingredients together, and we have good reason to remain cautiously optimistic. Fingers crossed.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot hits theaters on March 4. Watch the trailer above.
