Soundcheck: The 10 Best Music Releases Of The Week

From Rico Nasty to Tove Lo to Sevdaliza

Every weekend, we bring you #SOUNDCHECK—your destination for the best new music that hit the web over the course of the week. Because you should always be prepared when someone passes you that AUX cord. This week's roundup features 10 selections from of our favorite emerging and established artists. Turn up, tune in, and tune out.

Rico Nasty has returned with her first single of 2020, and it does not disappoint. "Lightning," which she dropped on Tuesday, is a crackling and playful new cut, her writing as captivating as ever. "They say they don't like me/ Bank account look frightening/ Bank account look lightning," she brags on the hook. Put it in rotation for an instantaneous pick-me-up. That said, most of this week's selections fall on the optimistic side of things. Perfume Genius, gearing up for his fifth studio record expected in May, summoned plenty of western groove for his latest single "On The Floor," a song that will likely also get you on the floor.

Elsewhere, Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui unveiled her bilingual venture into reggaeton with "Lento," and Russian producer Kate NV dropped an effervescent new track that combines retro cool with modern curiosity. Keeping the collective gaze toward summer going, Bronx-raised artist Angie Rose shared "Infatuation," an energetic track for the coming hot days, and Tove Lo delivered a road trip-certified pop banger.
