Ryan Gosling + Emma Stone Are Magical In ‘City of Stars’ From The ‘La La Land’ Soundtrack

Swoon

In just over a month, La La Land will finally be released, and the world can, at last, see why Damien Chazelle's luminous throwback musical is an Oscar frontrunner. We saw and fell in love with the film in September, when it played to a standing ovation in Toronto, en route to winning the festival's top prize. Maybe it was Chazelle's loving portrait of Los Angeles that did us in. Or, maybe it was the electricity that pulsates between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as two Hollywood dreamers who fall hopelessly in love.

And while both elements are worth the price of admission alone, they're hugely elevated by the film's original soundtrack, which officially drops on December 9, the same day La La Land opens in limited release. If you've seen any of the film's trailers—and really, who hasn’t—you're likely familiar with "City of Stars," the cooing, mournful lament sung by Gosling.

Well, for those of you looking for the full version before the La La Land’s official release, you're in luck. A version of the song has just been made available on YouTube, and it features Emma Stone as an added bonus. If you choose to give it a listen, we must, however, issue a warning. You likely won't be able to stop humming its addictive melody from now until Christmas.

Listen to "City of Stars" above, if you dare.
