Celine’s Latest Collection Is A Gen-Z Fashion Starter Pack
Fashion TikTok, this one’s for you.
Someone find Hedi Slimane’s TikTok because we know he’s scrolling. Slimane presented Celine’s Fall 2021 collection on Wednesday, filmed at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte in the commune of Maincy, 45 minutes south of Paris.
The castle’s gardens were the opulent setting for the luxury label’s decidedly casual collection of wide-leg and distressed denim, bucket hats, dad caps, and crop tops. Think Kaia Gerber picking up a juice from Erewhon.
Slimane’s collection was anchored by the three pillars of Gen-Z fashion: skinny jeans are dead, bucket hats are alive, tiny tops are essential, and sunglasses are equally effective at shielding your eyes and topping off a great fit pic. It’s not exactly a surprise coming from the brand, which has been leaning into its TikTok era since Slimane’s appointment back in 2018. He tapped TikToker Neon Eubanks as a brand ambassador in 2019 and has spent the past three years designing collections that seem tailor-made for the social media app.
Models-turned-influencers like Hailey Bieber and Kaia Gerber have embraced the new era of the brand, too, further solidifying that high-fashion collections of what, on a first glance, may be mistaken for a YouTuber’s latest vintage shopping haul certainly have legs.
