Mansur Gavriel’s “Pencil Case” Is The Brand’s First Baguette Bag

Meet your go-to shoulder bag for summer.

The sleek, geometric bag is having a moment, and now Mansur Gavriel is getting in on the action. On Thursday, the brand launched its newest style, the “Pencil Case,” a baguette-inspired nod to the school supplies of our youth.

“We approach handbag design in a very sculptural way. We liked the idea of creating a small bag that is sleek, angular, and clean,” founders Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel tell NYLON. “The form is very pure and the spazzolato leather feels quite pop and graphic. The beautiful color and semi-shine make the bags feel like candy.”

The “Pencil Case” comes in six shades, from neutrals, like black and cream to bold, summery hues, like sky blue and lime greem. Unlike some of the other shoulder bags on the market, Mansur Gavriel’s version is large enough to pack all your everyday essentials, featuring an exterior pocket that is begging to stash your vaccine card.

“We often looked to clean, sculptural shapes for Mansur Gavriel,” Mansur and Gavriel explain. “We have both structured and soft bags, and there is always a purity to the form and a reference to art. Bold color and minimal details are a repeating element across the line.”

Mansur Gavriel’s “Pencil Case” retails for $495 and is available now on the brand’s website. Check out photos of the bag, below.
