‘SNL’ Totally Nailed White America’s Reaction To Beyoncé’s ‘Formation’ Video

Slay.

Saturday Night Live is on some kind of roll. After last week's perfect Bernie Sanders/Curb Your Enthusiasm mash-up, the crew at Studio 8-H once again put their finger squarely on the pulse of America, with a pitch perfect take on last week's (over) reaction to Beyoncé's controversial "Formation" video. Shot in the style of a horror movie trailer for a fictional film called The Day Beyoncé Turned Black, the parody shows white people going through their daily routines, when Bey's #BlackLivesMatter-themed video drops and alerts them that, gasp! the, world's most famous pop star is actually black.

“For white people, it was just another great week," begins the classic movie trailer voiceover. “They never saw it coming. They had no warning. Then, the day before the Super Bowl, it happened.” It's a devastating bit of satire for a show that often feels milquetoast. And in an episode that featured two otherworldly performances by Kanye West, this was clearly the highlight. That's saying something.

So even without stepping into the building, Beyoncé totally won SNL. Watch above.
